How much does Google Ads cost per month?

2 min read
Short answer

Google Ads has no fixed price. You choose a daily budget yourself and pay per click. What a click costs depends on your sector and on how many others are bidding on the same keyword. On top of that you pay for management if you outsource it. Agencies often charge a fixed fee for this, or 10 to 20 per cent of the advertising budget.

With Google Ads you don't buy a package. You set an average amount per day. On a busy day Google may go over it, but across the whole month you stay within your budget.

Cost 1: the clicks

You pay when someone clicks on your ad. The price per click isn't fixed. It is set by how many others are bidding on the same keyword. In a sector with a lot of competition you pay more per click than in a niche.

Cost 2: the management

Someone has to set up the campaigns and keep adjusting them. Do it yourself and it costs you time. Outsource it and agencies charge a fixed monthly fee or a share of the budget, often 10 to 20 per cent.

Cost 3: the page they land on

A click that ends up on a page that isn't about the ad is money thrown away. So budget for a good landing page as well.

Start small and measure

Start with an amount you can afford to lose for a month. Measure what an enquiry costs for each keyword. What works gets more budget; what doesn't gets switched off.
